Gladiator Sports Performance

Gladiator Sports Performance and Fitness Training is a local fitness and sports conditional business run by Delwayne Rucker. He has worked for decades with youth sports teams, and as a personal trainer. His new business would be targeted specifically for youth, sports clients.

The logo needed to contain a gladiator, as well as representations from the following sports: baseball, basketball, football, and tennis, or lacrosse.

The bulk of their clientele were youth football players, so I decided it was best to illustrate a gladiator in a running motion with a football. To really show off his muscles in an over-the-top mascot style, I illustrated him in a basketball jersey, as opposed to shoulder pads.

I presented this option with the client, and the feedback I received was, “add more sports”. Collaborating with the client, we landed on adding in baseball and lacrosse. I then got to work incorporating these representations into the already well-established gladiator. To round out the design, I placed these behind a shield, and to really round off the top I added an enlarged basketball.

This was the exact, perfect solution for the client.
